About Me

My name is Caylen Gobbato and I am a student at Lynden High School. I have been involved in 4-H since I was a little girl and grew up in our local farming community. Now that I am in high school I am very involved in FFA . I was an FFA officer this past year and competed on an Agriculture Communications team at the FFA State convention. I learned a lot of about communicating current agricultural issues and promoting new agriculture technology. So when I was given an English assignment to address an issue that is important within our community or world I knew that the importance of buying high quality, locally sourced agricultural products was a perfect fit. I had the idea to make a website to inform our local community of the the benefits of choosing local agricultural products and where you can find them. My FFA advisers influenced my decision to do this project by teaching me about the different local agricultural issues the variety of livestock and crops that are raised and produced at different local farms.

With the rise of mass production and large factory farms shipping food over long distance comes the decline of quality, safety, care and sustainability. This change in our food system makes it even more important for people to understand exactly where their food comes from. Local agricultural operations are working hard to produce and offer sustainable sources of responsibly raised livestock and crops that offer better quality and health benefits with far less impact on the community, our country and the world. I hope my website can help you and your family find and explore the many benefits of what is available in local stores and garden markets from our local agricultural community.
